Business Origin and Focus:
When Carole Leanza started New Horizon in 1998, she had a vision of
a company where the client was treated fairly and honestly. Where
each person who works for the company feels they are part of a team
that really cares about the work they do and about one another.
Where what we do and how we do it is not just a job but a part of
who we are. Carole, who was joined by partner Bob Lehman, spent the
next four years growing the company by building relationships with
independent consultants, programming groups, network specialists,
software companies, etc. By working on a contract basis with all of
these different groups we were able to have the best of the best in
our ranks -- all working under the umbrella of New Horizon
Management & Consulting. All the while keeping the overhead low, and
dealing with the ups and downs of the computer consulting business.
Their main focus was with a software package called MANAGE-2000®
that was owned by a company called ROI Systems, Inc. Not only were
they able to implement, train, and support all the areas of the M2K
software, but they had developed business partner relationships with
the major 3rd party products that interfaced to M2K and were able to
sell and support them. The only thing that they didn’t do was sell
the M2K software itself.
In 2002 ROI Systems, Inc. was sold to Epicor. Epicor made it very
clear that they did not intend to keep MANAGE-2000 as a developing
product. At that point Carole & Bob determined that the M2K software
was going to be reaching the end of its lifecycle in the not too
distant future. They looked into working with Epicor’s other
products and decided that they needed to find another software
company to work with.
The search was on. No one imagined that it would take 5 years to
find the right company, but they finally found it in a software
manufacturer out of Norfolk Virginia called xTuple. xTuple’s owner,
Ned Lilly, shared Carole’s passion for bringing high quality
software and ethical services to small to mid size manufacturing
entities. There has definitely been a rapid kinship between the two
companies.
Their MANAGE-2000 clients are still an import part of their client
base and now they have a new vision of the future with xTuple’s
OpenMFG and PostBooks products. But no matter what the software is,
the objective still remains the same, to treat their customers the
same way that they would want to be treated.
